After winning a scholarship to the School of Communication Arts Julian worked as a designer for Michael Peters & Partners, with stints in New York & Amsterdam. Six years, lots of packaging and a Conservative party logo later Julian defected to advertising as an art director for Chiat/Day London.
Chiat/Day became St Luke's and at only 29 Julian became joint creative director with Alan Young. With Alan he has been behind most of the agencies high profile work notably IKEA, BT and Strongbow. In 2005 Julian was made a fellow of the RSA.
