This week we’re delighted to unveil our first piece of work for new client Aunt Bessie’s! Since winning the pitch for their business last year we’ve been hard at work on a new campaign for the much-loved brand, with a new Agenda Setting Idea at the heart of our work – Every Day Deserves Aunt Bessie’s.
The campaign, which launched with a new 30” TVC (which can be watched below) during ITV’s coverage of The Tour De Yorkshire, encourages the British public to make the most of their weekday mealtimes, and not settle for subpar dinners. With Aunt Bessie’s huge range of goodies, there’s no excuse not to upgrade your midweek meals!
Our first TV spot focusses on Aunt Bessie’s golden, crispy ‘Homestyle Chips’, and features Margaret and Mabel as proud evangelists of the brand, on a crusade to help the great British public see the worth of every day. Celebrating the much-maligned Wednesday, aka ‘hump’ day, the duo ride around Yorkshire on a bike and sidecar, towing an Aga to feed their delicious Aunt Bessie’s chips to an overjoyed local community. The final scene was shot in Settle, where the real local community came out in force to pose with Margaret and Mabel and welcome us to their village. We even made the local news, which was fitting given the opening shot of the ad…!
The spots were directed by Peter Cattaneo, who is BAFTA award winning, and best known for directing The Full Monty. His recent TV work has included the BBC’s The A Word and Rev. Our new TVC is part of an integrated campaign that will run across TV, in-store and on- pack, press and digital – expect to be seeing a lot more soon!
